We heart Lisboa
At heart, the Dirty Crew are explorers, in fact the Dirty Little Serifs concept was born on the beaches of the Samui Archipelago. We are explorers not just as travellers but as creative souls searching for ideas, and as entrepreneurs on our business journey. We believe wholeheartedly that travel and experiences enrich our lives, increase our general knowledge and inspire us to be better designers. So, when we can, we try to squeeze a trip in to recharge our batteries, reflect and gain fresh perspectives.
We recently took a long weekend to absorb the colourful and vibrant city of Lisbon. A hub of creativity, Lisbon is the capital city of Portugal and it can confidently hold its own against the popular destinations of London, Paris, NYC and Barcelona that have inspired a plethora of artists, musicians, photographers and designers. Lisbon might be a small city but it has the perfect balance between the old and the new. Steeped in history from the 1755 earthquake to the Carnation Revolution, Lisbon is an Instagram fanatic’s ideal location. From Castelo de São Jorge every angle is picturesque and we have sapped our mobile data storage with too many shots of the beautiful terracotta rooftops, exquisite hand-painted tiles and the Tagus estuary glistening in the sun. Then you have the exciting, trailblazing concepts, such as; the Time Out Market, the LX Factory, Park Bar and the co-working space of the Village Underground.
We could easily write a lengthy blog post of how amazing Lisbon is, from their delicious cuisine (we can’t get enough pastéis de nata!) to the live Fado players in Alfama, but we think you should go, book your flights and experience it for yourself. Instead, we’ve put a list below of 10 of our favourite sights and things to do in Lisboa (in no particular order):
1. Time Out Market (amazing curated food market)
2. Castelo de São Jorge (the views can literally be breathtaking)
3. LX Factory (historical industrial complex that houses an array of creative retailers & unique eateries)
4. Rua da Bica de Duarte Belo (most photographed street in Lisbon)
5. Village Underground (creative incubator space and co-working community)
6. Pastéis de Belém (the most famous and arguably the most tasty pastéis de nata)
7. Park Bar (this bar is located on the rooftop of a car park)
8. Any bar or restaurant in Alfama playing live Fado music.
9. Museu Coleção Berardo (modern and contemporary art gallery)
10. Tram 28
